National Security Advisor Wi Seongrak announced that South Korea is reviewing participation in the U.S.-proposed Maritime Freedom of Navigation initiative in the Strait of Hormuz. This is part of a potential collaboration with the U.S. on the Maritime Freedom of Navigation and ‘Freedom Project’. Furthermore, South Korea is pursuing strengthening its defense capabilities and completing the operational roadmap for the transfer of wartime command authority from the United States.
