Amid rising fertilizer prices due to the Middle East conflict, the National Institute of Horticultural and Forest Research of the Rural Development Administration has developed ‘circular hydroponic technology’ to recycle fertilizer and reduce costs for farmers. This technology reduces fertilizer purchase costs and carbon emissions by 20-63%, with significant cost savings observed in farms in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do, and Haman, Gyeongnam. The Rural Development Administration plans to expand the distribution of this technology.
