With the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz, concerns are growing over energy supply disruptions, prompting the government to belatedly initiate the construction of a maritime supply chain early warning system (EWS). However, criticism is emerging that the response system is lagging behind, and is seen as ‘reactive medicine.’ There is a growing call to manage maritime supply chain risks as a matter of national security.
