Israeli strikes pound southern Lebanon, hit targets elsewhere

Israel continues its strikes on southern Lebanon, while the United States is attempting to mediate talks between Israel and Lebanon. Israel is targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and issuing evacuation orders to Lebanese residents. Direct talks between the Israeli and Lebanese governments are scheduled next week at the US State Department.
