Following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the fourth South Korean oil tanker has transported crude oil via the Red Sea, interpreted as an effort to ensure energy security. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries stated that it has operated 24-hour monitoring and communication channels to ensure the safety of the ships. This can be seen as South Korea’s strategic choice to mitigate the instability of the energy supply chain related to the US-Iran conflict.
