The U.S. has sanctioned Iraq's deputy oil minister and Iran-aligned militias for aiding Iran by mixing Iranian oil with Iraqi oil and falsifying documents. Treasury Secretary Scott Beshears stated the Treasury Department will not allow Iran to exploit Iraqi oil to fund terrorism. This move comes as the U.S. and Iran edge toward a temporary agreement to halt the war.
