Iran warns of retaliation if US tries to violate the blockade of Strait of Hormuz

Iran warned of retaliation if the US attempts to violate the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, following the US announcement of Operation Freedom to escort ships through the waterway. Iran stated it would respond to any breach of the blockade, amid ongoing tensions and attacks in the region. The US has recently repatriated Iranian crew members seized from a ship and is pursuing the handover of the vessel to its original owner, Iran.
