The US Central Command has initiated ‘Freedom of Navigation’ operations in the Strait of Hormuz to support commercial vessel navigation and restore maritime transport freedom. The Strait of Hormuz accounts for approximately 25% of global maritime oil shipments and concerns are rising regarding global energy supply due to heightened tensions between the US and Iran. The operation will involve warships, aircraft, and approximately 15,000 personnel.
