A Reuters investigation revealed that the founders of Iranian cryptocurrency exchange Nobitex are linked to the family of Iran’s supreme leaders. Central bank wallets transferred $347 million to Nobitex in H1 2025, and the US Treasury sanctioned Iran’s shadow banking infrastructure. Nobitex was not designated, but analysts estimate significant related transactions.
