US threatens shipping firms with sanctions if they pay Iran to transit the Strait of Hormuz

The United States is threatening sanctions on shipping companies that pay Iran to transit the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has been charging fees for ships passing through the strait after the U.S. and Israel launched a war on Feb. 28. The U.S. has initiated a naval blockade of Iranian ports, adding pressure on Iran’s economy.
